Screw the Planet... Save the People!

Ok! That's it! I've about had it with the whole save the earth thing! I go to work, and what do I hear? "Why are you throwing that away? Don't you care about the earth?". Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with recycling. BUT IT'S NOT TO SAVE THE EARTH! There is nothing that we can do to the Earth to hurt it in any way whatsoever... at least nothing that a few billion years won't cure. It's not the Earth that needs saving it's people that need saving! We as a a race are slowly killing ourselves, and there isn't a stinking thing that we will ever do about it until it's almost too late. It's too deeply engrained into our nature to be self-destructive.
It comes naturally to us.

Yeah, yeah, sure... I believe in things like "Love a tree- hug the phonebook" or "Save the whales- collect the whole set". But that is not what we should be worried about! To heck with them! We have some far greater things to worry about. You know, little things like nuclear weapons, disease, and society. Speaking of disease, whatever happened to natural selection anyways? Wanna know where it went? It got taken away from us, and given as a turbo boost to everything else. Modern medicine has doomed us more than a little hole in the ozone layer or a few extra global degrees ever could. We are killing off all of the weak strains of some of the more deadly viruses and bacteria out there, and the rest are getting stronger. Why? They're surviving! And each time they become harder to kill again. And to top it all off, genetic disorders are getting way out of hand. Natural selection simply passes over the human race because we don't allow our flaws to find their way out of the gene-pool. I admit it, if it weren't for modern medicine, I'd be toast. I'd be dialing into AOL from a casket modem. But, maybe that's the way it should be. I have no confidence in the survival of the human race as long as medical technology exists at this level. Think about it: We made it this far didn't we? How long has it been of this caliber? Not very long. We lived up till now without it, and we're going to kill ourselves with it. End of story.
