Call for help!
In a lot of areas, you call 911. This has become the
universal emergency telephone number. However, a lot of rural areas still
don't have this service in place. For instance, where I live if you dial
911 you may get a dispatch center 100 or more miles away, and they have
to figure out who to get in touch with.
Your best bet, if you are going to
be somewhere for any length of time, is to find out the emergency telephone
numbers
for that area and keep them by the phone. Don't be afraid
to use them. Unfortunately, in some cases, this is delayed. If you think
that an emergency exists, call for help.
