When I'm not burying my nose in the news, I like to get out and travel as much as possible. My preferred method of hitting the road is just doing it---i.e. minimal planning and the joy (or frustration) of seeing where the trip takes you. I've been in North and South America, Europe, and a bit of the Middle East so I still have a lot more to see! Thanks to the internet, its now possible to cyberplan or at least take a virtual world tour. For the do-it-yourself traveller I want to recommend two of my favorite cyberlinked guide book sites:

  • Lonely Planet is an excellent way of taking a virtual photo tour of various locales.

  • TimeOut is great at giving you info on weekly or monthly events and its linked to many different cities around the globe.

  • And from my last great adventure (February 2000) with Jason Dabb comes the ubiquitious picture of me viewing a llama's butt at the top of Machu Picchu in Peru (Nice angle Jason)

Check out a possible future vacation destination:

Yes, after a long Dutch winter it'll be somewhere WARM!
