Yoku irasshaimashita! First of all, Galadrìel is not my real name (yes I get asked that question) - it's only my handle. Well in my 20 years of living there's a few things I've come to believe, but one of them is that anything I may believe - or hold an opinion on, is not the final word. If something brings me closer to the truth, my perceived truth, then I'm willing to change my view. I've always been the kind of person who uses my head, but now I realise that the heart is just as, if not more, important. I think happiness can be gained through a simple balance of both. =) For me at this time my happiness is with George and also with my studies - with University, kinda of a self-developement/worth thing. My head and my heart. And I don't intend to look back on this as a hardened sceptic and find it idealistic.

I live in and was born in Australia, I really love it here - especially in how laidback the place is. If you're interested in where I live follow the link I have (above) to my Tasmania Page.

I hold a few political-type views. Firstly though, I'd love to see Australia become a Republic. Our ties with Britain can't be doubted...hell! The vast majority of us are descended from Poms including myself, yet the monarchy has become irrelevant to us now I think. Let's strengthen our identity and get an Australian Head of State. Also, strengthen our ties with Asia whilst keeping up those with the US and UK. I love my country...but overall, I don't put too much faith in boundaries and borders...they're just imaginary lines placed by man. Secondly, I really hate too much legislation in my life!!!! Individual freedom (freedom from) is important to me. ...Yet of course, there has to be some kind of institution to promote equality, and I guess it's aim is to please the majority, not everybody. And also, I think that perhaps enough people don't question what they are told. They are conditioned to a degree to be this way, one of my favourite quotes by Steven Lukes: Society is entirely suffused by power which not only affects the capacity of individuals to realise their wants and desires, but actually constructs their wants and desires for them. Kind of like Marx's theory about 'the state of false-conciousness' I guess. I think questioning authority can be a good thing. It's not always well-placed. But anyway, they're just a few thoughts. I don't rule my life by them, I'd rather snog ;)
