Peekaboo

THE OCEAN

Boiling, restless sea
Batters it's way onto the sand.
Where do these foam-capped waves come from?
They've been here before
These billions of drops of water;
They've been here forever.
Roiling their way onto land
Then receding, subdued,
Back to their source.
A neverending
Rush and recede.
Relentless, angry, then calmed
For the return.
Soft, yet powerful
Inviting, yet dangerous
Driven by wind
Rejected by sand
Eternal
Cold
Relentless
Cruel
Calming
The ocean.
