Aftermath of a Love Jones
by
Jaeda Jontelle Raines
Looking at the past, where my heart was once embraced,
Where I see love, I know see coldness in your face,
Confusion and agonzing dreams keep me lying awake,
While I embrace an undeserving soul of where mine once stood in place.
I do not blame you, I just wish communication would take place,
Because there is so much hurt and sorrow in my eyes of my chocolate toned face,
And your smiles bring my tears where everything is displaced,
Knowing that things will never be the same, and the time we spent has gone to waste.
I fear that I am on a journey, similar to a one person race,
Running from everything and quickening my pace,
All alone in my four walls with no one to embrace,
So while you've been searching for your fulfillment, I have been creating a distant space.
I only fault myself if I end up winning this race,
Who would want to enjoy the reward of being erased,
For I am gone, no longer, dead in your subconsious mental state,
The Aftermath of a Love Jones.
