Deleting Files How do I erase the files present in my GeoCities homestead? This and similar questions will be discussed in this tutorial. NOTE Deleting all the files in your GeoCities homestead does not delete your homestead per se or your GeoCities account. PROCEDURES 1. Go to http://www.oocities.org/members/tools/file_manager.html . The page that appears is the entrance to the GeoCities File Manager. 2. Click on the "Enter the File Manager" button. After you do so, a pop-up window like the one below appears. NOTE GeoCities now employs what it calls a Universal Login system. This means that you can access different GeoCities applications (like the file manager, counter manager and profile editor) without having to provide your GeoCities member name and password every time as long as you keep your browser open. Currently, however, this feature is only available in the file manager. For more information, you might want to read the Universal Login FAQ. NOTE In connection with the Universal Login system, if you accessed the file manager using your browser a while ago, kept your browser open, and are using the same browser to enter the file manager now, then you'll no longer be asked for your GeoCities user name and password. In this case, the pop-up window shown above will no longer appear, and you should then proceed to the next part of the tutorial. 3. Type your GeoCities member name on the box that asks for the user name. Then type your GeoCities password on the box that asks for the password. After which, click the "ok" button. Below are some problems that you might encounter in this process.
WARNING Never give your GeoCities password to anyone, even to those that claim to be working for GeoCities. Community leaders and GeoCities staff will never ask for your password. Click on the "next" button to proceed. Should you have any comments and suggestions, please e-mail the site administrator. Be advised that GeoCities-related questions will not be entertained in the aforementioned e-mail address. Please direct such questions to SouthBeach Community Leaders.
