MakeUp Tips

Well now this iz tha part of tha page where I like ta give so cooleyhighharmony make-up tips and stuff. I think I should start off by givin yew my main rule on make-up..........MAKEUP IS NOT FACE PAINT!!!!! Make-up is meant to be subtle.....People shouldn't refer to yew as "that girl that wears the blue eyeshadow and the bright pink lipstick". Might I also add that bright blue eyeshadow for day wear is a sin! Well bright blue eyeshadow for night wear is a sin too. I see nothing wrong with dark navy blue shadow cuz it gives the smokey eye affect that black shadow can give. I think the smokey eye look is tres fly......and the navy can really give a dramatic affect. Anywayz......I think we should start off by givin the forecast of 1998.

The Fall/Wimter collections are lookin good for this year! Everything has gone from sunny and bright to dramatic.....and I like it. It's really different, fresh and new and there is a lot of looks that you can play around with. There are new shimmery shades you can mix with the dark shades to get a totally glam look. The collections are very dark, mysterious and seductive. Plus some collections have gone bright, shimmery.....totally fresh.....and definitely hip. You can stick to one look or do what I do.....mix them together. it looks cool....and you can create a new look for yourself. So far, all of the shades I have tried are cool, and I get a lot of compliments with them. I think you should check them out. The colors, as I said, are very dramatic. They range from dark plums, to shimmery silvers and golds. Everyone is playing around with shades this season. Cover Girl's collection is called Bewitch Bejewel Bedazzle. The colors are inspired by fairytales and enchanted forests. The shades range from Midnight Forest, to Silver Belle. the number one color......Plum Fairy, a deep plum purple shade with a silvery shimmer to it. It is definitely a new look.....and a very popular collection. Plus Cover Girl threw in another collection called Silver Belle.....not as dramatic...and for the younger crowd. It's basically Silver Belle, Roze Quartz, and Snow Globe. It's a cute princess oriented collection. Maybelline has gone totally glam with their collection. It's called Cosmic Edge......and it's basically glitter.....and I love it! They have foundation with a slight shimmer to it....semi-permanent body tattoo....a liquid that you can use to do mehndi art wherever you want to.....glitter gels, dramatic eyeshadow...called Shadow lights....shimmery All Over Body Powder.....sparkly Lip Polish.....it's all so cool and fresh! For all of the collections that are out this season.....Maybelline is my favourite! I love glitter and shimmer so this collection has my name written all over it. And as always.....totally natural is still in.......so if yer afraid to go to dramatic with any of these....just go natural! Or try a little dit of both collections and experiment!

This next part is something I thought up of with the help of friends. This section is just gonna give some tips on make-up and stuff. Some tips will show how to make lipstick....ways to apply make-up.....you know....tips and stuff! Anyways....read on and learn stuff!

Eye Tips

Try turning a Powder Eyeshadow into a creme shadow by blending a smear of Vaseline into it. This will make the color of the shadow more radiant and vivid....and it's a great way to get rid of all of the Vaseline that's in your medicine cabinet.

Use the brushes that come from blush compacts as eyeshadow applicators. They are just right for dusting on a light coat of shadow.

If you are into coordinating your make-up, try mixing some crushed up eyeshadow with clear lip gloss to make a sheer shade that matches your shadow.

To make your eyeshadow last longer without creases, prep your lids with a bit of moisturizer, and then lightly dust them with a little loose powder.

To make your eyelash curler work better, heat it with your blow-dryer for a couple of seconds (no more than five) before using it.....but to be safe, touch test it first so you won't burn the skin around your eyes.

To make a no-run eyeliner, spritz a very dark eyeshadow (black gives the best effect) with a little water, then dip a tiny eyeliner brush in the shadow and apply like a pencil.

To get clump free lashes, wipe the mascara wand with a paper towel to get rid of all of the excess mascara. Don't use a tissue, because it will leave lots of excess fibers behind.

To make eyes look bigger, line along the bottom of your lashes with a while eyeliner.

Wash an old mascara wand with eye make-up remover, and then with antibacterial soap. You can then use the wand as an eyebrow and eyelash brush.

If you accidentally buy a face powder that is too dark, use it as an eyeshadow.

If you want to try colored mascara, but aren't sure if it's for you, try this: Mix a bit of eyeshaow with clear mascara to get instant colored mascara!

To groom your eyebrows without overspending on an expensive brow brush, try buying a cheap toothbrush with a cool pattern and use it on your brows. If it's too long for your make-up case, break off some of the handle.

Lip Tips

To make your lipstick last longer without overspending on those expensive long lasting lip colors, try dusting your lips with a bit of pressed powder before applying lipstick.

Make really cool lip colors by blending a bit of eyeshadow or blush with some lip gloss to make a cool shade.

Put some liquid foundation on your lips before applying your lipstick. This sometimes helps to make the lipstick last longer.

To make your lip color last and have a matching liner, try lining your lips and then filling them with the same lip liner. To finish it off, add a bit of clear gloss.

To make cool lipstick palettes, get some empty eyeshadow compacts or pill boxes. Then buy some inexpensive lipsticks and refridgerate them for a few hours. Next, cut the lipsticks and smush them into separate squares. Leave a few of the compartments empty so you can mix shades together. Apply the lipsticks with a lip brush.

If you have a problem with lipstick always getting on your teeth, try this: Apply your lipstick as usual, then stick your finger in your mouth, and close your lips around it. Then twist your finger back and forth and slowly pull it out. The excess lipstick on the inside of your lips will be gone, and it won't smear all over your lips.

To make your lips look fuller, dab a bit of frosted lipstick or shiny lip gloss on the center of your lower lip.

A great way of blotting lipstick is to use a coffee filter instead of a tissue.....this way is better because tissues can leave behind lots of fibers on your lips.

Put lipliner over top of your lipstick to make the color more intense and this will also make it last longer.

For fuller lips, try lining your lower lip just outside its natural line.

If you accidentally buy a lipstick that is too dark, lighten it up with a bit of frosty lipstick, white eyeliner, or Vaseline. If your lipstick is too light, try darkening it with a bit of dark brown or black lipstick.

Apply your lipstick with a lip brush rather than with the regular applicator. The brush gives you more control on where your lipstick is going to go on your lips.

Tips For the Rest of Your Face

For glowing skin, mix your moisturizer with some sheer shimmery foundation, and skip the powder...(choose an oil free moisturizer if your skin is prone to breakouts).

Brush your blush on your eyelids and cheeks for a pretty, soft one color look.

Mix one drop of concealer with two drops of moisturizer to create your own sheer foundation.

Blend a bit of vaseline over freshly applied blush to give your cheeks a dewy glow.

To help cover a zit, dab a bit of white eyeshadow on the spot, then dust it with a bit of finishing powder to take away the redness.

To make a wide nose look narrower, mix a bit of foundation with a tiny bit of moisturizer in the palm of your hand. Start between your eyes, and smooth the mixture along your nose to the tip, then blend it down the sides.

For a sweet smelling, shine zapping fix, dust on baby powder instead of the expensive face powder...(cornstarch variety is more absorbant than talc).

To highlight your cheekbones, make a fish face by sucking in your cheeks, and then brush on your blush along the bone fron the apples of your cheeks to the corner of your eyes.

Use a make-up sponge to apply liquid foundation-it gives you a lighter more even coverage than applying with your finger tips.

Other Useful Tips

Mix little sparkles with clear nail polish and paint it over a cool color...the results are very wicked.

Buy paintbrush from an art supplies store to apply your make-up. They apply your make-up better and are far cheaper than make-up brushes from make-up counters in stores.

Mix a few drops of food coloring with white nail polish for any pastel shade.

Wash your hair at night, then sleep with it in braids. You'll have a lot more body in the morning.

For extra shiny hair, mix two eggs with some mayonnaise, then apply the mixture to wet hair and cover with plastic wrap. Wait 10 minutes, then rinse and wash as usual.

When you run out of shaving cream, use conditioning shampoo on your legs. It smells good and it leaves your skin really soft.

Make your own nail stencils with some small groovy stickers. First, peel the sticker from it's wax backing, then stick the leftover outline on your nail to use as a stencil. Paint the inside outline with a cool color nail polish. Wait 10 minutes for the polish to dry, then peel off the stencil...(small stickers of moons and stars work best).

To avoid tangles, comb conditioner in your hair with a wide tooth comb while in the shower.

Create your own nail art with some kiddie paintbrushes and some craft paint from an art store. Cut the brushes into an angle to get a fine tip, then dip in the paint and draw on your nails.
