Adding the GeoCities Icon

Every page you create must have a link back to GeoCities, this is how to create the standard link and icon.

1. Type in the following text on your page:

2. Highlight the line of text (keyboard: move to the line, then prss the keys, Home, Shift-End )

3. Center the text using the menu item Format/Paragraph, set the Paragraph Property - Paragraph Alignment to Center (or use the tool bar).

4. Make the text bold using the menu item Format/Font, set the Font Style to Bold (or use the tool bar).

5. Highlight the words 'Free Home Page'

6. Create a hyperlink using the menu item Insert/Hyperlink, when the Create Hyperlink notebook comes up, set the URL: to a single slash, eg. URL: /

7. Move the cursor in between the words 'by' and 'Get'

8. Insert the GeoCities Icon image by using the menu item Insert/Image, in the Image notebook, switch to the Other Location page, push the From Location radio button, and fill in /pictures/gc_icon.gif into the field.

9. You will get the broken image icon, click your Right Mouse button on the broken image icon, and select Image Properties on the pop-up menu. In the Image Properties notebook, switch to the General Page, and fill in the following:

Image Source :   /pictures/gc_icon.gif
Alternative Representations Text :   GeoCities
Default Hyperlink Location :   /

10. Place a space before the word Get (after the broken image icon).

11. When you upload your page to GeoCities, the icon will be found and your link should look like this

12. To put the GeoCities link on other pages, just highlight the line, then use the menu Edit/Copy, to copy it to the clipboard. Then open the page where you want to put the link, move your cursor to where you want the link, then use the menu Edit/Paste, to paste the link from the clipboard.
