As you've probably guessed from the title, it's partly a poetry page, but it's also a forum for me to share my latest interests and hope you don't fall into some deep, deep sleep.

I'm hopelessly and gloriously addicted to eBay, one of the auction sites, and haven't been writing much poetry lately. Hopefully, that will change once I've auctioned off everything I own. To see my current auctions, click on the eBay icon below.

"BOAT ANCHORS" - Going, Going, Gone!

I've been one of those crazy amateur radio operators ("hams") since 1957, and for several years I went a little nutso collecting the HUGE, heavy, vacuum tube equipment of that era, affectionately called Boat Anchors. Many of these are MUCH larger than a microwave oven and weigh over 100 pounds. Can we say "steel," boys and girls?! Cold, thick, heavy STEEL! These suckers were built to last, unlike the cheap throwaway plastic junk that parades as electronic equipment today. But that's another story!

I couldn't afford these grand old relics when they were new and in their prime, so while the "addiction" was upon me, I spent tons of money and countless hours buying them and restoring them cosmetically and electronically.

Now, however, I'm in a program for recovering "Boat Anchor Addicts," and have sold, traded, or given away all of my "high end" boat anchors, but some of the novice-type receivers that I still have left are:

• Hallicrafters S-38D (My first radio as a 16-yr old novice in 1957)
• Realistic AX-190

My boat anchor transmitters and VFO's are now completely gone. NONE of them remain.

There are also no more MODERN receivers or transmitters in the shack except for the QRP rigs listed below:

• Elecraft K2
• Elecraft K1
• Elecraft KX1

Assorted accessories include:

• Antenna tuners (MFJ-949E, BLT, Emtech ZM-2), keys, automatic keyers, Bencher BY-2 paddle (chrome), single-lever Vibroplex Vibrokeyer Deluxe paddle, Schurr Profi2 paddle, MFJ artificial ground, and who knows what else I'll remember after I update this page and shut down the 'puter.

As for the poetry, it's not all mine; some are works from others who submit their poetry by email. If you have something you'd like to share with the world, this may be your spot! Much of my own poetry is haiku and other short poems; I'll try to include new poems at least once a month. Yeah! Like that has happened since I first put up the page!

If no author's name is given, I guess I'll just have to take the credit or blame depending on how you feel about the poem. I welcome your comments about any of the poetry; feel free to drop me an email.

Some of my other hobbies, interests, and passions are astronomy, chess, amateur radio, camping, hiking, reading Science Fiction, playing Blackjack, buying and selling on eBay, and gerbil neutering. I also have a black belt in Origami.
