SIX HAIKU -- RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO

Red River, New Mexico, 10,000 feet high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains has for many years called us back each summer to rejuvenate our spirits, renew our souls, and refresh our bodies. Starting out as a mining camp during the days when gold fever grasped every able bodied man, Red River survives today largely because of its incredible winter skiing and summer tourism.

Its deep blue glacial lakes, rippling streams, majestic mountains, abundant wildlife, dazzling array of wildflowers, inky black star-studded skies, and profusion of Aspen as far as the eye can see make this a glorious setting for a casual visit, vacation, or permanent home.

The six "haiku"included here attempt not only to hint at the glory and grandeur of that magical, mystical place but to share my own deep love and emotional bonding to all that is Red River.
