A dormant seed was placed
In fertile ground with hope
Received sunshine and rain
Life burst forth with joy
Stems reached for the sky
Leaves arrayed majestically
Nourished daily with care
Bloomed in glorious bliss
Nothing is quite as lovely
As a flower's peaceful song
Now all weathered and spent
As warm summer fades
Life lingers sadly on
Remembering joys long gone
One last stifled bud
Attempts mightily to bloom
Only to be bitten down
By the fading sun
The wind's cruel cold blast
Alone the flower sings
A somber death song
