My Home Page: Kelly Petit
Welcome here! I hope that you'll enjoy the pictures of my family and of my two countries. Maybe you'll feel like taking a trip either to Norway or France afterwards. While you're reading this page, you're listening to Morning composed by Grieg.

My Background
I was born in a small town,Odda in the south-western fjord Hardanger in Norway ,the land of trolls and the midnight sun. That is where my national dress comes from, it does look Norwegian doesn't it? All girls in my region get a dress like that at their confirmation. I spent most of  my youth there, but I also spent some of my childhood-years on  B¢mlo, an island off the West coast South of Bergen, where my mother, and my sister and her family still live and where we have  a chalet. I have another sister who lives in the small town  Sauda in one of the  Ryfylkefjords I have lived with  my family in France for quite a long time since I married a Frenchman 32 years ago.I have lived in France since then, most of the time in Angers where we live now. We have three children : two sons living in France, and a daughter who is married to a Norwegian and lives in Norway.  My daughter and my son-in-law  have three sons the first, Frédéric, was born in March 1995. The second one called Pål-Henry was born in September 1998, and the third one, Patrick, was born in January 2000. We used to have a cat called Pussy, but she left us after almost 16 years of loyal friendship.

My Interests

I guess that the best - and fastest - way to really get to know me is by discovering what I like. So here goes . . . I love to go boating in summer, skiing in winter and being with friends.I adore movies - especially classic films. I like music, but once again I'm rather influenced by my background, I must admit I have a special taste for Norwegian music, both classic music and folkmusic. I'm an avid reader. I read all kinds of books from classic literature to modern science fiction and detective stories. Another passion is genealogy, which takes a lot of my time. But once you get hooked up there, you can't leave. I also like handicraft like  knitting. I like dancing, especially good old Norwegian dances! Last but not least I'm a computer addict! And, of course, I like my job : teaching English! I bet you thought I was going to say Norwegian!:-)

Here are some pictures from the Parismeet with friends from the afpf's group in September 2001. We had a swell time.

Another way to really get to know someone - especially someone who spends as much time on the Internet as I do - is to learn their favorite sites:

Scandinavian art and literature on the web.

Art from Norway : click here and visit Eric Formoe's site.

Snorre Edda.

A good site if you intend to travel in the land of the Vikings.
