The Drop-Off

The drop off   If you walked 10 ft out of this point on the island, you would be in 2,000 ft worth of water - hence the name. This is a great spot for deep dives and night dives. I saw two hammerheads up close during a dusk dive here in 1996 - it is still the single most amazing dive experience I have to date. It is a little unnerving to dive here for the first time as you really never see the bottom - just darkness.

You can dive towards the turtle cavern from here. The jetty at the drop off has a really cool bar. With sordid concoctions of cocktails, it's pretty easy to spend the whole evening here watching other divers doing night dives while getting high on alcohol. A great place to watch the sun set too.
