Suzy` - aka Summr

Hmmmm, where do I start with my bio... I guess the beginning is as good a place as any. I was born in Escanaba, Michigan, March 16, 1946 to Steve and Lea Rozick. My father was in the Air Force so we traveled around a lot. I have two brothers and one sister (all younger than me) and none of us was born in the same state.

We ended up in Southern California when I was still in grade school. My father died in an automobile accident shortly after we moved there, so we were raised by a hardworking mother. She lost a fight to cancer in 1993.

I married very young (15yrs of age), and had my first child at that age as well. By 22 I had seven children, and really made it tough by trying to grow up with them. But they are wonderful adults inspite of me :)

At 25 it was just the kids and I, and we had our ups and downs, but we're survivors. We made it through a major earthquake in California in 1971 that made the house unliveable, (Tired of the earthquakes in California, we moved to Washington state in 1974.), a fire that destroyed another home in 1975, and our very different personalities. We have lived in tents, in shacks and in some beautiful homes, but the one thing that mattered was that we were together.

For the most part we lived in the country as the kids were growing up. I worked for the county visiting the elderly, or handicapped on a regular schedule. The visits included taking them to appointments, housework, banking, shopping, cooking, and in some cases, hauling water, or chopping firewood.

After most of the children were grown and left the "nest" I moved into the city and went to work at a sewing company. I was there four years, but was injured on the job and required surgery to correct it. After surgery and physical therapy, I went back to work, but could no longer do what I had been doing, so with the help of student loans and grants, I went back to school, graduated top in my class in 1994, and ended up with a "career" as part of management in a background screening company. We screen the applicants to companies across the US.

The kids were so supportive of me, a big help emotionally and financially. It was at school that I discovered computers and the love affair is still going strong. I love what can be done with these machines, the people I have been able to meet through them, and the creativity they allow me. The only down side to them is....there never seems to be enough time to do all I want to do on it.

I have been a part of #50something (off and on) for 2 years. This is a special place, with many special people. They are all apart of my online friends and family. We've laughed together, cried together, and mourned the loss of other "family" members together. The channel can be fun, zany, serious, or quiet, but it is still the best place on IRC to call "home".
