Pen Pal Page

Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty.
·
~ Richard Lovelace
To Lucasta: Going Beyond the Seas

I never saw a man who looked
With such a wistful eye
Upon that little tent of blue
Which prisoners call the sky.
·
~ Oscar Wilde
The Ballad of Reading Gaol

It's nice to hang around people who think the same way, but when you get a lot of them together, they start wearing armbands and funny hats, and then there's trouble.
·
~ George Carlin

At one time or another, most of us may have had a brush with the law; whether it was getting a ticket for a traffic infraction or something more serious. Today our prisons are filled to capacity, often unsuitably overcrowded. Certainly most of those people should be there. On the other hand, some do not. This page is NOT here to condone or condemn.

What this page has been designed for is to appeal to your good nature. Studies prove that recidivism is lower when inmates have folks on the outside taking an interest in them. Unfortunately, far too many of these men and women have no one and nothing to look forward to except months, even years of life behind bars.
