| In the middle of neutral space sat the series of inter-connecting concentric rings that made up the space station pirouetting slowly on its axis. Peacefully it waited alone in the vast emptiness of space when abruptly around it three swirling vortexes of light appeared silently expanding as they began to eject large grey objet form there cores. As this grey objet grew in size it became clear they were ships, two Dreadnoughts and a Spectre, They move in on the space station with the jumpgate disappearing behind them. In turn each ship released a small transport vessel which glided towards the station which opened large hanger doors ready to receive them. The chunky metal airlock door sledded open with a hiss. In side were three men all dressed in smart military clothing but each sporting different symbols on their clothing. They walked out to be greeted by a line of six people a woman stepped forwards nervously and shook each of the men's hands in turn. "I'm so glad you've all made it we were worried you wouldn't show." They all gave a small chuckle and smiled "It's a pleasure." answered the first man on the left "Yes hopefully this will be a great day." The second man next to him hastily added. The final man said nothing and looked around the bare steel interior. The woman gestured for them to walk down the corridor "This way please." The man walked briskly down the corridor followed by the woman and the five others "I hope all your journeys were pleasant?" she inquired "Well as pleasant as a journey can be on a BS class ship" replied the second man. They all gave a small laugh except for the third man who again remained strangely quiet. They continued to walk down the dimly lit corridor until they turned a corner and were out of sight. They arrived and a large set of sliding doors. They stopped and the three men tightened their ties and brushed their sleeves as the woman typed a code in the keypad imbedded in the wall. The third man peered over the woman's shoulder trying to look the code being entered and she turned her body to obscure his view he turned his head away as if he wasn't trying to look. The doors opened revealing a small auditorium brimming with people waiting for the men to arrive. The women led the way through the door on to stage were a big elongated table awaited them in front of an audience. They sat down at the table, The ever-increasing smell of nervous body odour coming from them. The third man poured him self a much needed glass or cool water from a beaker in the centre of the table took two sips placed the glass down on the table slowly and proceeded to pull him self out of the metal chair and stroll to the from of the stage were a microphone lay in wait for him. He gave a brief cough to clear his throat "I 'd like to welcome you all here and thank you all for being here. Behind me are the leaders of some of the greatest alliances in the universe and today you witness the formation of THE greatest alliance ever and hopefully an end to a legion and fury dictated universe." The crowd gave a cheer in unison and the man goes to sit back behind the expanse of desk behind him. Back in the openness of space the battle ships remain waiting for the man to return back to their corresponding ships. Directly above the ships and space station the light from the stars begin to distort, a worm hole is opening, and immediately a fleet of eighty Ghosts pour out of the worm hole like water from a tap. They progress slowly towards the unknowing victims in front of them. On the bridge of one of the Dreadnoughts the admiral is sitting in his chair tapping his finger impatiently in the arm rest looking around at the bridge admiring the over complicated looking controls of the ship he's commanding. He leans over to the major sitting near him doing the same "I'm an admiral aren't I major?" "Err yes." Replied the major slightly confused "Then why the bloody hell I'm I sitting here waiting for the commander?" "Because you were ordered to sir?" "Well? yes but I'm an admiral not a cab driver god damn it I should be out in battle?" An engineer runs on to the bridge shouting erratically "SIR, SIR!" "Yes?" the admiral answered in a condescending tone "There's something I think you ought to see." He ran over to a console and bought up the outside view on the screen and he pointed, His finger wobbling with fear, to the top of the screen. The admiral stood up and walked over to the monitor Page 1 2 3 |
