| "Oh dear god." The screen showed and image of Ghosts looming over them and he knew instantly what they were they were ships sent by legion. He slowly waked back over to his chair and took a long deep breath and sat back down. He sat motionless for a few seconds and then began give orders "Red alert! Every one get to battle stations" instantly everyone became more active and ran round looking for their positions. A private turned the admiral. "B..But how will we stop them we came with no fighter escort." The admiral realised he hadn't actually thought that far but then it came to him. "It's ok the space station will lay down suppressing fire with their ion cannons while we defend our selves as much as possible. Major let the space station and the other battle ships know what we've just seen." "Yes Sir." He replied as he walked over to the side of the bridge to send the message. He opened up the appropriate frequency and began to speak in the head set "We have eighty hostile ghosts above our position." He listened to the white noise briefly waiting for a reply and repeated the message. He then got a message back from the other ships saying they to have seen them but nothing from the space station he tried again urgently on different frequencies but still nothing " Admiral the other two battle ship have confirmed the sighting but the space station is not replying." The admiral ran over to the COM unit and pushed the major out of the way and franticly tried to contact the space station. Out side the eighty Ghosts prepared to attack they aligned them selves in a square formation and loaded their neutron torpedoes. The two Dreadnoughts got side by side the admiral in each prepared to go down fighting. They raised their meson turrets and began to fire at the incoming fleet. The cannons shot back as they fired small blue projectiles towards the ghosts making their shield light momentarily as it collided with them making them look like a swam of fireflies. It had no effect though the Ghosts remained heading towards them the meson connons began to fire more vigorously and more randomly but it still had not effect. The ghosts edged closer the torpedo tube doors slid open one by one on each ship and they let rip with a wall of neutron torpedoes. The Dreadnoughts were stuck they went manuverable enough to move out of the way and their meson turrets would be useless but they persivered again firing meson particles randomly in a futile attempt to stop them. The torpedoes tore through the ships leaving gaping wounds which fast evacuated much needed air from the hulls of the two ships. Just as fast as the holes were created amour plating re-sealed them. The fleet of Ghost unphased by dreadnoughts ability to soak up the torpedoes fired three more waves of neutron torpedoes and watched as the again tore through the ships. Again amour was teleported in place but there wasn't enough to meet the demand and the ships lay maimed. They fired again on the helpless ships ripping away more of the ships metal flesh but this time they penetrated deep enough to hit the fusion reactors in one and immediately the ships was engulfed in a gigantic fire ball in the a silent explosion which destroyed the two ships leaving only small bits of metal and lifeless bodies suspended in space. Behind them the Spectre uncloaked and hailed the backsides of the ghosts with lasers, which went across space with a streak of red. The ghosts quickly turned round but were unable to fire so they sat prone knowing that they will destroy the ship when reloaded. The spectre continued firing it took out a few ships but it didn't help them the ghosts were reloaded again and the torpedo tube doors allowing torpedoes to rain down on the once mighty battle ship as it was destroyed like the two before it. Oblivious to the carnage out side of the space station the man finished talking to the audience and proceeded to walk back round top the head of the table were he was to sit. He lifted up on the table a black brief case he fiddled about with the combination and the two locks clicked open he pulled out the treaty closed the case and signed it he then passed down the pen to the man next to him and offered the treaty to him to sign. Suddenly there was a loud explosion and the station shook violently and the people in the auditorium were flung out of their seats. The room filled with the sound of people screaming and the floor became littered with bodies with broken appendages. The Ghost had turned and had started to attack the space station. The man that had already signed the treaty turned to the woman and inquired as to what was happening. She leaned over the table and pulled towards her a small computer on it she brought up a view of out side. She didn't like what she saw Page 1 2 3 |
