For the second year, this page is holding a prediction 'contest' for men's sprinting at the major championships. Currently, I am taking picks for the Canadian and American championships.
Please e-mail me with your top five picks in the 100 and 200 metres, along with comments if you wish. I will also accept 400 metre picks, but they will not be a part of the scoring. Your picks, along with comments will be posted on this page.
Someone named "Track11" claimed the 2000 Canadian contest, while Paul Scott and JByrnes shared the American honours.

12 Points for picking the winner of the event
08 Points for picking the second place finisher
06 Points for picking the third place finisher
04 Points for picking the fourth place finisher
02 Points for picking the fifth place finisher
02 Points for each correct sprinter in top five (10 possible)

4. Kenny Brokenburr | 4. Justin Gatlin |
5. Brian Lewis | 5. Kevin Little |
I'm not sure what Mo has decided to run so I'm taking a chance here. I haven't heard Brokenburr's name since the first of the year so I guess he's my sleeper pick in the 100 and 200. A healthy Miller will also qualify. In the 100 I think it will take sub 10 to qualify for WCs.

IP's Picks | |
100 Metres | 200 Metres |
1. Tim Montgomery | 1. Shawn Crawford |
2. Bernard Williams | 2. Bernard Williams |
3. Jon Drummond | 3. Kevin Little |
100m: Drummond has looked NASTY all season, but hes still capable of getting a big race and making
the team....especially if Mo aint there. 200m: This is assuming that Mo and Coby aint there....If
Cobys there, I got him on my second slot in the 200, and Bernard in third. |

Shaun Le Conte's Picks | |
100 Metres | 200 Metres |
1. Maurice Greene | 1. Shawn Crawford |
2. Bernard Williams | 2. Bernard Williams |
3. Tim Harden | 3. Justin Gatlin |
4. Dennis Mitchell | 4. Ramon Clay |

Wyz's Picks | |
100 Metres | 200 Metres |
1. Maurice Greene | 1. Bernard Williams |
2. Tim Montgomery | 2. Shawn Crawford |
3. Bernard Williams | 3. Kevin Little |
4. Brian Lewis | 4. Coby Miller |
5. Dennis Mitchell | 5. Kenny Brokenburr |
Beyond Greene, this is tough to call. Williams has been running better than Montgomery, but I'm calling a mild upset. Lewis has been invisible and Mitchell's seen better days, but to make in interesting I'm calling them 4 and 5. If Greene ducks the deuce (which he most certainly will) Williams will get his revenge. Crawford goes second and Little grabs third. Miller surprises on 4th and Brokenburr grabs fifth. Clay or Griffin could upset. I don't see Drummond finishing in the top 3 here. |

Blair's Picks | |
100 Metres | 200 Metres |
1. Donovan Bailey | 1. Pierre Browne |
2. Bruny Surin | 2. Shane Niemi |
3. Pierre Browne | 3. Jermaine Joseph |
4. Brad McCuaig | 4. Glenn Smith |
5. Devon Davis | 5. Kofi Yevkapor |
No surprises in the 100. Time predictions: 10.00, 10.05, 10.20. I hope Browne isn't still injured. He'll take the 200 in under 20.5 if he is not injured.
BTSF's Picks | |
100 Metres | 200 Metres |
1. Donovan Bailey | 1. Pierre Browne |
2. Pierre Browne | 2. Jermaine Joseph |
3. Brad McCuaig | 3. Shane Niemi |
4. Nicolas Macrozonaris | 4. Kofi Yevkapor |
5. Anson Henry | 5. Nicolas Macrozonaris |
100m: If Surin decides to run, I think he'll pull off his fourth consecutive title. Bailey hasn't run well in Canada since 1998 and I think he would be content to follow Surin closely. If Pierre Browne is healthy, I see him taking the third spot ahead of Brad McCuaig. Macrozonaris and Gilbert are not looking like contenders. 200m: I'm going with Browne, ahead of Jermaine Joseph. 100 Metres | 200 Metres |
1. Pierre Browne | 1. Pierre Browne |
2. Donovan Bailey | 2. Shane Niemi |
3. Nicolas Macrozonaris | 3. Jermaine Joseph |
4. Brad McCuaig | 4. Glenn Smith |
5. Anson Henry | 5. Errol Aguilera |
100m: It's kinda tough because you never know who's going to pull out at the last minute. Plus, I'm wondering if Browne and Henry have completely recovered from injury. If so, Browne could sneak second and Henry could grab 4th or 5th . Devon Davis is erratic and less experienced that Macro. As it stands, I'm going Surin, Bailey, Browne. In the 200m, it's wide open. Smith has been terrible, so I'm calling a repeat of last year's 1-2-3. Again, if Browne hasn't recovered than Niemi might grab first. Gilbert may pull out. Aguilera is not as fast as Davis or Henry, but he's my surprise in the final. |
