Theoretical MECCG Scenarios
The War of the Dwarves and the Orcs
"When all was ready they assailed and sacked one by one all the
strongholds of the Orcs that they could find from Gundabad to the
Gladden. Both sides were pitiless, and there was death and cruel
deeds by dark and by light." LotR Appendix A-III, Durin's Folk
There are 7 sites with Orc automatic-attacks in the regions of
Angmar, Gundabad, Grey Mountain Narrows, High Pass, and Redhorn Gate;
add 2 Under-deeps sites with Orc automatic-attacks, and we see the
path that our own War of the Dwarves and the Orcs will take: Mount
Gundabad, Mount Gram, The Wind Throne, Carn Dum, Goblin-gate, Dimrill
Dale, Moria, The Under-leas, and The Under-grottos.
Special Rules
- From their first organization phase onward, all companies are
assumed to have the equivalent of AN UNEXPECTED PARTY played
on them, and all companies must abide by the restrictions on that
card. At least one copy of this card should be available for
inspection.
- No Elf characters or Wizards are allowed.
- All 1 or 2 Mind Dwarf characters are considered NON-unique for the
purpose of player-versus-player duplication (A player may still have
only one FILI in his deck, but both players may have a FILI
in play).
- All companies start at BLUE MOUNTAIN DWARF-HOLD, which is
considered a Haven for purposes of healing or introducing characters.
- No Nazgul may be included in hazard decks.
Victory Conditions
You automatically win if you are the first to visit all 9 of the
sites listed above and at each site successfully play an item worth
marshalling points (or, in the case of Dimrill Dale, a MP-value card
playable at an Information site).
Otherwise, the game ends after the last player's 7th turn, with all
companies then participating in the Dwarf-king's Audience...
- All characters make a final corruption check outside the turn
sequence.
- You receive MP for all items, miscellaneous MP cards, and Dwarf
factions you still control and for the creatures you eliminated. No
other MP sources are considered.
- You receive 2 MP for each of the sites listed above at which you
faced and defeated the automatic-attack.
- You receive 1 MP for each of the sites listed above at which you
cancelled or failed to defeat the automatic-attack.
- The highest MP total at this point wins the scenario.
For tournament scoring, one rank is achieved for visiting two of the
sites listed above and successfully playing items with an MP value at
each site.
