![]() Major (and Minor) Characters: Shade (Armic Tor): Master Thief, and Champion of Barnath The Races and Professions of Taros: Taros is populated with all of the various NORMAL PC Races as described in the Players Handbook. A brief additional description of them is included below: Humans: Humans of all sizes, shapes, colors, and backgrounds are found throughout the populated areas of Taros. They are by far the most common race and make up almost 75% of the population. Elves: Only High and Wood Elves are common on Taros. There are (for obvious reasons) no Valley Elves and no Player Character Drow. The Drow exist as a race, but only in that subterranean place they call their own. Drow are universally despised and any PC (or NPC) Drow would not live long enough to explain that they are not like other Drow. Half Elves: Only the High Elves are capable of reproducing with Humans, and therefor all Half-Elven characters are of High Elf stock. Although not universally accepted by their Elven relation, they are fairly well accepted by the Humans of Taros and have no problem interacting with society. Dwarves: Dwarves come in the standard Hill and Mountain varieties, but as there is no discernible difference between the two as far as game play is concerned, I don't really feel compelled to go into much detail. Gnomes: are Gnomes, are Gnomes, are Gnomes. They are not "Tinker Gnomes" or "Inventor Gnomes". They are the distant cousins of the Dwarves as described in the Players Handbook. Halflings: Also come in 2 varieties: TallFellow and Harryfoot. Again, as there is no discernible difference in terms of game play between the 2 "sub races" I will not bore you with tedious details. Half-Orcs: Orcs can breed with ANYTHING (except Elves) and as such there are many "half-breeds" running around the lands of Taros. As most of the Half-Orcs have their other half firmly entrenched in Humanity, most PC and NPC Half-Orcs are also Half-Human, but the occasional Dwarf/Orc, or Gnome/Orc are not impossible (all are still called Half-Orcs). the Dwarf/Orc mix gains an addition point of CON over the Human combination, but loses an addition point of CHA and a point of DEX as well. They gain one half (rounded down) of the normal Dwarven CON bonuses against Magic and Poison, but gain NO other racial bonuses from their Dwarven half They may only be Thieves (max lvl 10) or Fighters (max lvl 12) or Fighter/Thieves. The Gnome/Orc combination gains one half (rounded down) of the normal Gnome CON bonuses, but DOES NOT gain ANY other racial bonuses (like Ability Score Modification, etc.) and may become an Illusionists (max lvl 6) A Gnome/Orc may not Multi-class Fighter/Illusionist as a normal Gnome may do.
