Back to the home page Have a look at my resume Where I've been and what I'm doing Some of my favourite hockey ards
Over the last few months I've re-discovered my sports card collection as a hobby of sorts. Mind you, it's no grand collection and I certainly won't retire off its value, but I've been adding to it here and there.

Have a look at some of my more valuable and favourite items. Some of these may be doubles or triples of cards I already have, so if you're a collector who might be interested in something you see, contact me...I might be willing to deal.

I guess you could say I'm a Leafs fan...wait wait, I mean Canadiens! Anyway, I've collected a few older cards over the years (newer ones don't really interest me). Here's a few of my favourites:
(Some of the scans aren't perfect, so some of these cards look worse than they actually are)

Yeah OK, I'm a bit of a Lafleur fan. Too bad I can't afford the expensive ones...ah, maybe some day.

I've been working on completing the 1982-83 O-Pee-Chee set over the last few months since I discovered how much eBay has to offer. I already had some of these, including some of the more valuable ones. There aren't a lot of huge rookie cards in this set, so it won't cost me a mint to collect. Here are a few of the notable cards I have so far:

Here's a few cards from another set I'm looking for. O-Pee-Chee issued 2 sets of glossy mini-cards in 1987 & 1988 featuring the previous year's league leaders. For some reason the set isn't worth a lot right now, but with so many current and future Hall of Famers included in a 42-card set, who knows where the value might so. Not that it matters though... this is another one of those sets that I've had kicking around for years and through the magic of eBay I've managed to find some of them.
I have some of these (and many more) in doubles. If anybody is interested in them I'll entertain offers.

Here's a few old Esso cards. I don't know how I got them or if they're worth anything.

I'm not a Bruins fan (not allowed to be if you're a Habs fan) but I've got these cards for some reason...must've blown in the window:

Here's an autographed Pavel Bure card. I sent the card to the team and, surprisingly, it came back signed. I'm only assuming it's authentic. Then again, who cares? I'm keeping it either way.
I've got a stack of old stickers from the 80s. Here's a few of the notables. I'm wondering if the Lemieux one is of any value since it came out the same year as his rookie card.

This has to be one of the gems of my humble collection. I sent a couple of Patrick Roy cards to the Canadiens to get an autograph, but instead I got this 3.5" x 5.5" glossy photo. Now I'm not one to hide something like this away so it has faded a little. Anyway, I'm hanging on to this one for a while.
I found these in a box while looking for something completely unrelated (ain't that always the way). These round cards came in Kellogg's cereal during the 1984-85 season and each has the player's 1983-84 stats, biographical info, team logo and autograph (not real) on the back. The cards were linked together in groups of 6, with 2 sets in a single plastic puck with an NHL logo on the front. Each card is about 2 inches in diameter.
This promotion was part of some contest because on the inside of the puck is printed "Sorry, please try again." I found these disks in an old price guide from 1994: The first set you see here was worth $5; the second $4. What they might be worth today...who knows? But, like most of the stuff in my collection that I don't have in doubles, these ones aren't going anywhere unless someone drops by with a sack of cash.
That's all I've got for now. As I dig out more stuff (or buy some from eBay), I'll add them.
