All's Well That Ends Well (NJSF)

July 14 - August 2, 1998

They told me that your name was Fontibell...
My first equity gig. I'll never forget it, it was so much fun. This was the best choice I could ever had made for my summer plans. Anyways, for this show I was the Assistant Stage Manager; which means that I attended the rehearsals, took down blocking (wrote down where the actors go and what the did--for the theatre illiterate), ran errands for the stage manager,...you know...gopher work. And during the performance run I would sit on headset stage left and in the trap, gave people their cues, and did random things backstage. What did I do, you are probably asking? Well, for example, after the first scene I put a blue gel over a strip light stage left, then I would rush over stage right to help move off the bed (a set piece), return stage left, and remove the gel after Lavatch exited in the middle of the scene. Then I would move the strip light, with the help of Tracey, behind the upstage travaler to its proper spike mark. I would make sure the actors were alright when exiting stage left. After Matt and Paul exited in scene 2-1, I would go downstairs into the trap room and give a cue to Craig to emerge from the trap during the 'chair toss' scene. It might seem like a lot, but it's really not! I didn't do anything for the rest of Act I! But that's only because there was nothing else needing to be done! So I watched the show from my little corner for about twenty minutes! But it was so much fun! I met so many new and interesting people. And I really hope that I will work with them again in the future! But rest asured, I'll be back next summer!!!
