Swing...dig the rhythm
My first huge responsibility at CHS; I was props mistress (or rather...Mistress of the Props!). This, though a great opportunity, was also a gihugic headache; especially since the company we got the scripts from did not give us a prop list so we came up with one ourselves. And with each rehearsal new props were being added. Some props were unusually easy to find like a pith helmet (I had one at my house) and the perfect Nino's Café dinnerware (in the prop closet). Others were a pain: the cigarette holder and the birdcage. Some props were just plain annoying (the damn manuscripts...all 50 of them!). Oh and don't forget the few times I went near hysterical trying to keep track of everything; me screaming at people who forgot props or yelling at myself for not preseting or striking something. I'd like to thank everyone for helping me stay calm. Now that I look back on it, I really do miss it, a lot, even though I complained all the time. But that's the fun part, believe it or not. I miss the stress and the torture. That's when I get my theatre 'high', after I realized I accomplished something big! It was so much fun, going to the last few weeks of rehearsals with the cast and building and painting with the crew. It was truely an enriching experience that I will certainly never forget!
