At last we have some positive news with the appointment of Billy Dearden as Manager. It may be something of a gamble as Billy has no real managerial experience in his own right, but hopefully serving under such mangers as Ian Greaves and John Rudge will have taught him the art of building a successful side on a shoestring budget.

The Steve Parkin issue has now been put behind us and we must look forwards and give the new man the suport he needs, both financially and vocally, whilst hoping he gets similar support from within the club itself. Nevertheless, we were delighted to receive a letter from Steve Parkin recently thanking the SOS members for their efforts. The letter is reproduced below:

"Dear all,

Now the dust has settled I would personally like to thank you for your very loyal support over the last two and a half seasons.
You know the reason for my resignation and it was nothing to do with my bad back I might add.
I have always thought you were super people and I will be thinking of you in the up-and-coming season. I hope things turn out well for the club because it will always have a special place in my heart..
Once again thanks for being 100% behind me.
