What Do The Children Do?
Our trained staff provide a child centred,
free play environment where children learn and play together.
The core programme is offered at all times
of the day. This includes : blocks, puzzles, books, dough, family/dramatic
play, music and movement, painting, collage, science, constructive, natural
materials, puppets, carpentry, sand, water, junk, climbing equipment, balls,
obstacle courses, group time regular routines etc.
Centre activities include both active and quiet,
planned and spontaneous, small group and individual activities, both in
and out of doors, with children able to make choices about the degree,
type and manner of their
participation. We provide creative activities
where individual expression is
encouraged. A structured ’group time’
is provided before morning and afternoon tea, when children enjoy music
and movement, stories, chants and other literary activities.
Flying Start Programme
The older children are involved in an extension
programme designed to help children learn the physical, social skills and
independence necessary for a successful entry to school. Activities help
children develop concepts related to science, reading, writing, maths and
vocabulary skills. They will know how to make choices, hold a pencil correctly,
and pay attention to the teacher. |
