Notes: This strip marks the beginning of my second attempt to make this idea work. There is a clearly discernible change in the style of drawing AND lettering. I was trying to find a middle ground between the Japanese and American cartooning conventions. It is ALSO the first time we find out the character's last name. (I chose it to add to the multiple meanings of the title "English In Action.")

One of the funniest things about my cartooning career is that in America I had trouble getting work because, the art directors told me, my style was too Japanese. But the Japanese, I found out, thought that my style was VERY American. *sigh* Can't win for losing sometimes!
