Notes: Sometimes I feel bad about going after a cheap joke ... but then I realize that it IS a cheap joke because it's so TRUE. And since this strip was supposed to be for people who had never been to Japan, it was important to capture the institutionalized sexism and bizarre feudal thinking.

Here we also see the final piece of the "English In Action" puzzle. The Active English program would be turned into and English In Action program ... and all the meanings would fall into place.

I think that if I'd worked a little harder at it, this series of cartoons could have worked ... and might have even succeeded in portraying the experience of being an EFL teacher in Japan. Oh well .... if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
