This is a delightful cosmopolitan town, rich in history and culture and its streets are a fascinating showcase of architecture through the ages. Its buildings are a permanent monument to the civilisations which have made their mark here - Iberian, Carthaginian, Roman, Arab and Christian. These days tourism blends comfortably with the hustle and bustle of a working town. The town is midway between the two international airports of Valencia (to the north) and Alicante (to the south). Both airports are within an hour's drive using the toll paying A7 motorway. Denia is just a 15 minute hop from Exit 62. Let us tell you about the wonderful place we call home in Denia. The scenery Denia has almost twenty kilometres of coastline. To the north of the town, there are beaches of fine sand and shallow waters such as Les Marines, L'Almadrava, Les Deveses, Les Bovetes and els Palmars. To the south lies a series of small coves along the rocky coast, known as Les Rotes, a paradise for fishermen and divers. The Montgó Mountain, shared by Denia and Javea, is the major landmark of the area. For those with an active lifestyle Water sports are tops in Denia. Sailing, windsurfing, diving, fishing, rowing, swimming or whatever you want. Denia has a complete infrastructure, with a marina offering 546 moorings and a full range of services and equipment. Landlubbers also have an extensive range of activities to choose from: mountain climbing or hang-gliding, mountain biking or hiking. We can't really say that it's always fiesta time in Denia, but there are plenty of occasions for enjoyment. January, the Epiphany Parade and Pilgrimage to the Hermitage of Santa Paula. February, Carnival, and the Mig, and the half-year celebration of the Fiesta of Moors and Christians. March, the Fallas. June, the Bonfires of San Juan. July, the town feast in honor of the Santísima Sangre, with steer baiting on the quay (els bous a la mar). August, Festival of San Roque, with the Moors and Christians Parade. |
