Harrison's Biography

Frontier

Harrison Ford (one of Star Wars' finest actors who played Han Solo) went through so many things to get to his place today, and most of it is like a big accident, that he did enjoy.

Ford was a very shy boy when he was younger and was often bullied at school. In college (Ripon College in Wisconsin), he was very lazy and continued to fail some assignments. He was thrown out of the school days before graduation. He did take drama courses and soon began to enjoy the classes more and more each time he went to them. On June 26, 1964, Harrison began searching for a part in his professional "career". All he was interested in was being a T.V. actor.

His first movie was
Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round, and had only three lines to say, all which were very similar..."Paging Mr. Jones...". Harrison did play many small roles...which was before he was said to have 'no acting talent' from a Columbia executive. He was booted from his Columbia contract soon after. Then he had another contract predicament in 1967 concerning Universal Studios-but this time they would try to get Ford and the other contracted actors into T.V. roles.

In 1974, he became a carpenter and decided that acting was not for him. He did enjoy his new job.
Ford did carpentry for mostly famous people. His name was known throughout studios and he received great amounts of money. He then thought that acting was much better than carpentry and began to act again.

Finally Harrison had some good luck in acting. One of his clients named Fred Roos was a director at Universal Studios. Roos had been aquainted to this unknown man's name, George Lucas, who just so happened to be a director. Roos told Harrison about a part for him in
American Grafitti and Ford wanted this part-as the character Bob Falfa. He was paid a very decent amount of money and in 1973, Harrison's acting career made a giant leap as American Grafitti was a public hit.

Roos, who learned more about this George Lucas fellow, then asked Harrison if he would be interested in being a smuggler-Han Solo-in Lucas's new film
Star Wars. Ford ended up installing an entrance to Goldwyn Studios...and found out that this place was where Lucas was having auditions for Star Wars.
He tried out for the part as Han Solo with a few actresses that were trying out for the part of Princess Leia. Days later, Harrison was honored and surprised to receive the part.

Star Wars was released on May 25, 1977. It was a box office hit. No one ever thought that Star Wars would have been this successful. Harrison's career was becoming more and more wonderful for him. He was known around the entire globe.

Empire Strikes Back, the next Star Wars film, was another hit. It, like it's first film, was a very successful one. Harrison had a much more important role in this film and was eager to be Han Solo again.

George Lucas hooked up with Steven Spielberg, another fine director, and began puting their minds together for Ford's next role. It was then that the famous archeaologist, Indiana Jones, was brought into this world. Lucas and Spielburg created this character for Harrison. He was able to do his own stunts, and became more and more use to cracking that long bull-whip that Indiana Jones possesses. The movie
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark was created. Harrison loved his character, and said that is was the most fun film that he had been in. Even though his character had been fun, Harrison was much more comfortable not being worshipped day-in, day-out. He began to make films that he was not the main characters (or one of the more popular characters). He then was in Blade Runner, which was not very successful. Ford was very unhappy with this film, and his role.

After
Blade Runner, Harrison was going to be in The Return of the Jedi, which was the next of the Star Wars Trilogy. He did not want to be in this movie and wanted his character, Han Solo, to be killed, or to die. Harrison's role was smaller in this film, and so he agreed to be in it. This film was another hit!

Abother
Indiana Jones was created, called Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Harrison had a few problems in this film, one of which was that his spinal cord was fractured from the cause of elephant riding. It was difficult, but this movie made it to the box office and was creepier than the first, but was just as popular. It did, however, cause the MPAA Rating Board to create a new MPAA rating. This movie was much too groosome and gory for a PG rating and it was too perfect for children to be an R rating, so the rating of PG-13 was created.

In 1989,
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was created. Harrison starred as that daring archealologist again, but this time he was accompanied by that handsome 007 (James Bond) actor, Sean Connery. Connery, as Indy's father Dr. Henry Jones, was perfect for the part. He had similar features to Harrison, even if he is only twelve years older than him, being his "father". They had great fun working with each other on this set, and this film was a smash hit, yet again.

These films, only being a few of Harrison's major roles, are some of his best. If you would like to go back to the Harrison Ford Frontier, please rely the options at the bottom of the page.
