Still the Rhythm 'Hug' or 'Hook'?

In Still the Rhythm (HTMFAIP) there appears the following line:

Lets invent a drug
that's addictive quick
makes you sick
with an instant ?????

There have been several argumants about what the last word is, with the choice being between 'hug' or 'hook'. It is almost impossible to tell from the song (in my opinion it sounds like 'hook'), but in the lyrics booklet for HTMFAIP it is written as 'hug'. 'Hook' Does rhyme with the next line which ends in 'crook', and does fit into the theme of the verse, with 'hook' meaning you get addicted to the drug easily. However the following posting to the list provides another explanation:

Let's get a DISEASE,
there's nothing better to do
so we'll give it to you
then do as we PLEASE.

Let's start a WAR
lot's of people get killed
they destroy te world
there's nothing left no MORE

Lets invent a DRUG
that's addictive quick
makes you sick
with an instant HUG

Think about it people....Once and for all it's 'HUG'
It's not supposed to rhyme wih CROOK, Its supposed to rhyme with 'DRUG'

bye....FallenAngel....Maureen

The conundrum was eventually solved by Rob from the fan club. He's a friend of the band and says that the correct word is 'hook'. So that clears that one up.

Teenyboppers appearing at gigs

After the storming success of the 'Tequila' Remix (#2 in the UK chart), there was a lot of concern over whether terrorvision gigs will be suddenly invaded with young kids, who are only there for the well known songs, primarily 'Tequila'. Many solutions were put forward as to possible solutions to the problem should this happen. From banning them from gigs to:

We should take them into the moshpits and let them bathe in
the ecstacy (no, not the drug) of jumping up and down insanely and being
surrounded by 100s of screaming, sweaty fans. Then by the end of the
gig, if they didn't have a good time. That's the point where we kick
the living c**p out of them. Either way we win!!!!

Another interesting solution put forward was:

You guys wanna know how to get all the teeny boppers out of the Vision
gigs? Well, this is what Pearl Jam did this summer. They scheduled
their gig in the Seattle Colluseum (a soccer stadium) whilst going on
literally next door in the Key Arena (the basketball stadium) was none
other than Hanson. What's more, the hardest punk band around, Zeke was
the opening act for PJ. So when it's time to leave you've got all the
pierced buff punksters and the teeny boppers (and their parents) milling
around in the same area. Boy were they scared sh**less!

Terrorvision Banned from appearing on TOTP?

All nicely summed up in a message from John Leppard owner of the excellent glycerine TV website:

Well I'm not totally sure, but this morning I caught the end of this thing
about Terrorvision on Radio One, saying that they have been banned from
appearing on TOTP this Friday because of one of three things, but I'm not
sure which as I only heard a brief bit of the story. The possibilities are:-

1.) The Beeb, wouldn't let them perfrom the song because of the content,
eg Tequila, drinking, etc.

2.) People have been complaining about the young dancing girls (which
wern't allowed to perform on This Morning), as people don't like them being
associated with the song

or

3.) At the Pepsi Charts recording of Tequila, the band allegedly drank 200
worth of booze in the first halg hour, then performed. Making that a record
for the most amount spent on alcohol there by any one band!! Total bar
bill = about 600, more than all the performers ever on that show put
together. This was reported in The Star today, which also said that they
had been banned from TOTP, but gave no reason! But can we actually trust
the press, especialy The Star???

Which of these it is, I just dont know, it could even be all three!! Does
anyone else have any ideas as I really want to find out the truth?!?
Anyways, if anyone can shed any light on this, please let me know, but if
not I guess that we'll just have to wait until Friday to see!!

As it happened, the terrors performed, and as about the other rumours, you'll just have to make your own mind up.

Tequila - New Remix Good or Bad?

Opinion has been mixed over the remix of tequila. Some people think it's fantastic:

I have to confess I didn't like the new album as much as the previous 3, yeah the first couple of tracks are
good and Tequila is superb -but it just seems a little too soft for my taste... I got the impression at the
gig in Middlesbrough that the band didn't rate it too highly either as their set was still basically the same
as in April 96....

Other people Hate it:

That tequila vinyl is one of the things I will never listen to. If I feel
the need to listen to a destroyed song, I'll listen to it on CD. I'm also
proud to say that I vought the Tequila promo on the Saturday before it was
released, from a record fair at the NEC.

Other people like it for other reasons:

Did any1 see noel's house party?
i was pissed off cos they had to play the remix but i was happy cos Tony
looked good enough to eat! mmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!

Still, love it or hate it (and I personally love it) you have to admit it has given Terrorvision their greatest hit to date, and we can't begrudge them that.

Why's Tony got a strange front Tooth?

Dead simple, and Explained on 'This Morning' on ITV. It's entirely due to a mountain biking accident that Tony had. It is alleged that there was a collision of some sort, causing tony to have one tooth knocked out. Rather than replace it with a normal filling, he decided to have a metal one because he thought it looked better. Still, he is mad as a badger...

They stole a letter 'H'?

This goes back to an event back in TV history:

one summer night in madrid, VERY pissed on tequila (E.G. tony remembers
shutty picking him off the floor at one point during the night and getting
him another drink), mr.wright found his way on to the roof of the local
Hard rock cafe. He helped himself to the "H". He apparently remembers the
rest of the band shouting at him to jump, so he did. and landed very hard
on both ankles, breaking them both. Mark then gave him a piggy back to the
bus and they took him to hospital. Tony meanwhile was still holding the
"H".
He was, however, convinced he'd broken his arse and was lying in hospital,
posterior in the air shouting "x ray me arse"!!

(that I believe is the basic story, although I do stand corrected on minor
details).

III Wishes at number 42

Yes, sadly it's true. The followup single to 'Tequila', 'III wishes' didn't get a top 40 placing at all. Instead it entered the chart at number 42. Unsurprisingly this caused a lot of concern on the list.

I think we've basically all got to come to the sad conclusion that 'music'
these days is not the music we used to know... I know that sounds really
cliched, but it's true that while certain forms of dance music are branching
out and experimenting, and deservedly doing well (ironically though, it tends
to be the more hip-hop/Drum'n'Bass side of the genre, i.e. the stuff you
don't really 'dance' to as much), the majority of the tosh in the charts
these days is brainless stuff which is sold on image more than content.
Supporters of experimental and unconventional music have always moaned about
this, but the sorry truth is that it never goes away, it only gets worse.
I'm sure TV are in it for the money as much as the next group, but at least
we can say that while we don't chart as high, it's going to be our music
which lasts and changes lives. It's just a shame that's not what the charts
are really about...

A possible reason for the Song's failure was put forward:

I was asking round at school today to see if any of them (most of my mates
are into Dance/ pop music) actually new who Terrorvision were, just for the
hell of wondering and do ya wanna know what I found out? well you probably
don't but anyway, not 1 of them had actually heard of Terrorvision. None of
them seemed to know they sung Tequila although they al knew the song,
distressing or what?!!! I had to remind them all that TV are the band I
always have in my PS player like every day, thats how bothered they were. I
mean though, not even knowing the name of the band who sung Tequila!!!
Thats why 111 Wishes didn't do all that well, they didn't have a clue who
the band were!!!

Still, at least the song got released, and we got some lovely new B-sides to add to our collections.
