1997 -
THE BIRTH OF STARLIGHT*
Maz & Ellie were originally a duo and wanted to go by the name
'Epic'.
Maz & Ellie were 15 at the time they formed as a duo.
In 1997 they formed a group, including Saz & Shoan, and named
themselves Starlight*.
All members of Starlight* attended Auckland Girls' Grammar
School and would pratice on the stairs between A-Block and C-Block during
lunch time.
In 1997 Starlight* went into the More Fm Auckland studio and were
on The Vault. Starlight* also recorded a jingle for The Vault.
Shoan left Starlight* near the end of 1997.
Liz (Ellie's younger sister) became a member of Starlight*
at the end of 1997, she was 12 at the time.
2000 -
THE BEGINNING OF THE RISE
In February 2000 Starlight* opens their Yahoo Group, All
Star Girl Team.
In May 2000 Starlight* does an interview for Muen Magazine.
In October 2000 Starlight* does a second interview for Muen
Magazine.
In December 2000 Starlight* is contacted by Dave Graham,
who is interested in managing the group.
2001 -
CAN ONLY GET BETTER
In January 2001 Starlight* signs a management contract with
Dave Graham.
A few weeks later, in January 2001, Starlight* were guests
at the More Fm Auckland studio. Starlight* were interviewed by
Andrew Leatoa on More Fm (The Vault) and also gave a helping hand with
one of the competitions (see the Backstreet Boys live in Chicago) by naming
the Backstreet song that Starlight* sung (they sung 'Just
To Be Close' a cappella).
In 2001 Starlight* met Richie Campbell of Kahu Records and
began recording.
Mid 2001 Saz decided to leave Starlight* to focus on her
university studies.
2003 -
NAME CHANGE...WE'RE NOW L.X
After a long hiatus, Starlight* & their management decided
to audition for a new member to join the group.
In March 2003 Starlight* found their new 4th member, Ingrid.
With the new member to the group, Ellie, Maz, Liz and Dave thought
that it might be time for a change to the groups name. Everybody agreed
to the name 'Alexx' but as there were problems with the spelling
of the name it was changed to L.X.
Mid 2003, after a long hiatus from recording L.X returned
to the studio to attempt to finish the track they had started.
During 2003 L.X lost contact with Ingrid and ultimately
decided that the line up wasn't working.
At the end of 2003 Liz & Ellie decided that they could no longer
be apart of L.X because of lack of time to dedicate to the group.
2004 -
MORE AUDITIONS...
At the beginning of 2004 Maz & Dave held auditions to find
new members to join L.X.
Sunnita became a member of L.X, but contact with Sunnita
was quickly lost.
October 2004, Maz did an interview with Natasha Markatos.
2005 -
IS THIS THE END?
Contact with Sunnita was regainned but the lack of commitment meant
the loss of Sunnita to the group.
In March 2005, Maz did an interview for FauxDreams.
2006 -
WHAT'S HAPPENING?
L.X has been on a very long hiatus and nothing much has
happened since 2005. Although conversation has been happening between
Maz & Richie Campbell (the producer of 'Just Another (One of
Them)') about the groups current status and possible finishing
of the track.
2007 -
Signing Out
After 10 years of running Starlight*/L.X Maz has decided to bring
the group to an 'end'. There could be a re-birth of L.X in years
to come, but for the time being Maz is leaving it up to fate.
