From Ponytails to Pantyhose From ponytails to pantyhose, From tennis shoes to pumps, From Hershey bars for breakfast, To Clearasil for bumps. From fairy tales to knock-knock jokes, And now her diary. I watch her grow up day by day, So much of her in me! Each day is so important-- Like the night before a prom. And now she's even changed my name, From Mommy to Mom! I watch her fade from childhood To adolescent years. It seems she grew up overnight, Through many smiles and tears. Too soon she's not a child; She grew up much too fast, And then what stands before me Is a product of the past. There is so much she won't remember About her childhood days, But there is something I can give her To keep with her always: The message of a Savior Who died to set her free. Then a woman I'll give back to God From the child He lent to me. -Claudia Graham |

The School Rule At our house we have a rule A kid can't stay home from school Unless he's sick or almost dyin' There's no use in even tryin'! A tummy ache keeps some kids free But that doesn't work - no not for me! Nor does an earache or a throat that's sore It has to be worse...oh, so much more! At our house we sometimes try And we may whine and we may cry But it is the general rule A kid has gotta go to school! Our mom says school is good for us And puts us on that yellow bus Whether it is raining, sleeting, or snowing It's pretty sure that to school we are going! She says that someday we will be glad For all the schooling that we've had But for now I'd love a day To skip school to stay home to play! -Thena Smith |
