Face It
Daniel Jeremy Perz

Get up and face your problems
Get up and face yourself
Don’t be ashamed to delve
into them and
try to understand
make a plan
to solve them
They won’t
disappear on their own
Confront your deteriorating health
Confront the feeling of defeat
the loss of wealth
that you’d desperately blown
in the hopes of finding a seat
in the executive club
An unfortunate toll
On a whole
It really was the hub
of your predicament.
It’s not etched in pavement
It doesn’t mean you should give up
and characterize your existence
as a complete and utter
failure.
Don’t rub
it in anymore
You’ve had enough
so don’t cast
your grand life away
It’s guaranteed it won’t last
Don’t fade
into the distance
as many others have
for lack of insistence
Something you have in loads
but deserted you in your
hour of need
when you it was necessary most
Promise yourself never to heed
If you do, you’ll find yourself on your knees
And falling to the ground
Unfortunately your attitude doesn’t bode
too well for your human core
When you begin to treat life
as just another chore
that’s the beginning of strife
Save yourself, at least try
to do it without a sigh
and a groan
as if you truly were bad to the bone
You know your end isn’t carved in stone
You have a chance to break the tone
You simply must grab
it and hold on, stab
your fears away
Shrug off the insecurity
about yourself into obscurity
Trust in yourself for one more day
Give it one last chance
to face it and enhance
your life for the better
And leave your meeting to the maker
