The Astro-Mythical
Aquarius
Aquarius, the Water
Bearer
Aquarius is a faint
sprawling zodiacal constellation which joins with the other
"water" constellations of Pisces the Fishes, Cetus the Whale,
Piscis Astrinus, Southern Fish and Capricornus the Sea Goat. Aquarius can
be seen in the Northern Hemispheres in August, September, October and
November and in the Southern
Hemispheres in January, February, March, and April according to SkyMap an
astronomical atlas.
No strong myths are
associated with Aquarius, however, there is a reference to the God Hapi
watering from two jars, which was an ancient symbol of the river Nile. In
Babylonia the God Ea- which was sometimes called the "God with
Streams" and is also associated with Capricorn. GU-LA, the Babylonian
name for Aquarius, was first associated with the goddess of childbirth and
healing. The stones of the region show a man pouring water from a bucket
with a towel in the left hand. The Arabians had a similar depiction,
a mule carrying two water buckets. In the Roman zodiac it was a peacock
which was the symbol for Juno.
In Babylonia, it was associated with the 11th month with each constellations numbered as such. Aquarius was called "The Seat of Flowing Waters" and some assert 15,000 years ago. This suggests that astronomy/astrology goes back even further than supposed. In China, Capricornus and Pisces and a part of Sagittarius, was called the "Serpent" and the "Turtle" and later called the "Dark Warrior", "Hero" and "Precious Vase". It headed the zodiac sign of the Rat - which was the ideograph
for water.
Angels of Aquarius
Barachiel is the angel of air
and higher altitudes that becomes a testament of power, swiftness and
invisibility. In Hebrew, bara- means to create, shape or form along
with burning and fire. -el means "shining one". Barachiel
is thus the "Creating Shining One". Like the movement of the
air, he breathes life into intellectual pursuits. He unlocks unconscious
aspects of the self along with giving wisdom and knowledge to those who
need it. Air is a transformative element much like the quality of fire.
They both renew and refresh, however fire burns off the old and
recreates anew. Barachiel refreshes the divine purity and love and awakens
the hibernating plants in the frozen soil of our mind and heart.
Raphael is a "Shining
Healer" for the divine. In Hebrew, rapha means
"healer" or "doctor" and -el means
"shining". His job is to heal the earth and to protect and
nourish mankind by infusing compassion, love and joy mixed with laughter
and humor. He cares for illnesses and disease and is often viewed as the
patron angel of doctors, nurses and other health care givers. Associated
with air, Raphael rules science and knowledge which corresponds to the
quality of air, representing the mind. The caduceus he carries is a symbol
of his work and is recognized in the health professions. There are
references to Raphael as being like the "breeze", because he
works behind the scenes quietly guiding those in the health field.
These two angels will help you start
a new spiritual journey or guide you in an existing one. They infuse love
and humor and awaken our senses to a new level. They allow knowledge and
wisdom to come forth as whisps of inspiration, some would call this
brilliance. If you need strength to move on any level, they will propel
you forward with wisdom and insight. They are truly transformative beings.

This information found here is from my
own research and countless notes. I am currently working on the
astrological and astronomical history of the constellations which is a
large project that I started some time ago. It is a slow and steady
process with time being a large factor. Please do not transfer or copy
this information and/or graphics. Thanks!
