Sandy hair, gold-red sideburns and “chin strip” goatee, bushy eyebrows, amber eyes, pale-pink skin with bronze skin markings, and highly freckled to boot. 6’2” #180, broad shouldered, tapered torso, fit but not ripped, muscular but not bulky, big hands, big feet, big….freckles.

Personality

Kelvin is slightly reserved, a little shy but warms up quickly when interest is shown. He is very approachable, he just tends to hang back and observe a while before jumping into interaction. His telepathy tends to spoil the mystery when meeting new people and holding back a little makes new interactions more interesting and also, he’s polite and doesn’t like to barge into other’s mental privacy. He is purposeful and direct but still diplomatic when addressing others and working with them. He is courteous from a genuine desire to be respectful, not falsely polite or manipulating. He will choose to say nothing rather than rattle on or cover-up awkward silences. As a telepath he values silence more than the average person.

Kelvin is motivated by a sincere compassion for people, a lust for adventure and a desire to “catch up” after some rough years and time he spent not fully engaging his life. He also seeks to honor Avrim’s legacy through his actions, and hopes his recent career change will not cost him too much time later on.

Kelvin was orphaned as a pre-teen when a first-contact encounter went out of control due to paradigmatic differences and a large portion of his home town was destroyed along with a nearby bio-chemical depot (the aliens mistook it for a hidden weapon emplacement and reacted as if attacked). He was injured in the attack and his abdominal pouch was medically sealed by necessity. He was raised thereafter by his grandparents who introduced him to Avrim, a friend of theirs from the diplomatic corps. Avrim was to become Kelvin’s mentor (and assignment once Kelvin graduated from the academy – Kelvin was his pilot and attaché for a few years).

Kelvin’s TP came as something of a burden, as he was initially mortified by the unbidden scans into the minds of those around him. His TP talents emerged soon after his parents were killed, and his grandparents recognized that something was wrong beyond normal grieving, and introduced Kelvin to Wenzal’s old friend, Avrim Brot. Avrim taught him some mental centering exercises and arranged some TP classes with a Deltan tutor until he was more comfortable and proficient with it. Later, during his teen years, Kelvin’s talents began to distinguish themselves and set into stable patterns. Kelvin’s demonstrated TP abilities include low-range full sensory mental rapport, touch/intimacy based deep mental rapport, “Motive Cognition” that allows him to intuit in a generalized fashion the emotional motivations and imminent actions of thinking creatures that are in his vicinity or in full view.

Starfleet Academy from years 16-21 (took a bit longer than usual to graduate due to some waffling about his major mid-stream,) He did well-ish, graduating near the bottom of the top 20% of his class.

Career Overview:

2376-2379: U.S.S. Resolute (Intrepid Class) – First Ensign post after Academy, under auspices of Starfleet Diplomatic Corps, stationed with Avrim Brot as his pilot, mental screener, and attaché. Promoted to Lt. J.G. Left the Resolute after Avrim was killed in a shuttle accident on the pair’s last mission together.

2379-2380: Leave of absence for personal reasons, took competency exams for counseling / psychology and changed career tracks to Medical /Counseling.

Present: U.S.S. Spartan (Nova Class) - Refresher course instructor recommended Kelvin for service as ship’s counselor and adjunct invetigator to the onboard JAG continegent as a criminal profiler / interrogator. Transferred to Spartan.
