Interests/Talents

Nick has always been into wrestling.  In high school he led Upper Ukraine Military Institute to four national championships in amateur wrestling, all beginning in his freshman year.  Once he was in the academy he did the same, winning championships and establishing himself as a leader.  He has also made it a hobby to study the Klingon Language and culture.  This could possibly be due to the fact that his grandfather hired a Klingon to teach all his grandchildren self defense from the age of five on.  Once in the academy he minored in Klingon Battle strategy.  He has been authorized by Starfleet to teach Klingon officially if he would like.  When speaking the Klingon language it is almost indistinguishable from a real Klingon.

Education

He spent his early life with his grandfather, this being because of his father’s death and his mothers drug and prostitution problems.  His Grandfather schooled him as a child, with the help of K’Atok a Klingon Teacher of martial arts.   As time passed this Klingon became Vazkav’s mentor, and guide, and to this day he still is.  Once Nick reached high school he was accepted into the Upper Ukraine Military Institute, for his academic prowess and athletic promise.  When he was there he became Cadet Master his senior year and graduated Valedictorian of his class.  Once in the Academy he was Cadet Subcommander his Junior year, and Cadet Commander his senior year.  He graduated again first in his class.  His Academic achievement was not due to inborn talent but to hard fierce and unrelenting work.  He wanted to be better than his past, He wanted to break free from the chains of his parents sin.  He found a way to do this in Starfleet.  There he could make a life for himself, there he could be someone, he could better humanity, he could serve a purpose.

He received a Degree in Leadership and Command, Tactics, and War Strategy.

He Minored in Klingon Battle Strategy.

After being injured in the late stages of the Dominion War, he went to law school, where he passed the bar exam with a near perfect score.  He transferred to the Marines where he was re-commissioned as  Lt. Colonel.

Career

USS Constantine (Miranda Class)- Security Officer Cadet (Cadet Cruise/Age 22-23) - Once on the Constantine everything was new to nick.  He could barely get things together and for a few months considered that the job was not up his ally.  Brains smarts and athleticism could not get him through the trials of a Starship, it was the practical application of the skills he had learned that could.  He did eventually adapted and during a delicate science assignment noticed that a probe had been Romulan Sabotaged, he saved a whole Breen Colony from Destruction

U.S.S. Constantine  - Security Officer - Ensign/Lieutenant JG(Age 23-27) - His service in the science incident had caused his promotion to Ensign.  He was now determined that there was nothing he could not accomplish.  He earned his promotion to Lt. JG by saving the Captains life on an away mission.   The team was to investigate why a Cardassian Outpost had sent a distress call.  The whole thing was a trap and five Galors were waiting on the ship to drop out of Warp.  In the battle, the Constantine shields went down and several attack teams of Cardassians boarded the Constantine.  Vazkav jumped in front of Phaser fire to save his captain.  He was then promoted to Lt. JG.  He transferred to a Larger ship sometime later.

U.S.S. Victory-B (Intrepid class) (Age 27-34)- Security Officer - Lieutenant JG/Lieutenant  It was on this ship that Vazkav proved his worth.  In a Quasar anomaly most of the senior command officers were killed by a explosion.  Vazkav took the bridge and maneuvered the whole ship away from the anomaly saving the whole crew. He was then Promoted to Lieutenant.

USS Victory-B  Chief of Security - Lieutenant (Age 34-36).  He earned his keep again when he figured out how to take a Borg Cube once it had assimilated to all of their known tactics.  He devised a new high power phaser weapon that would slip right through the cubes armor.  It would have worked against all Borg but after it was used they quickly assimilated.  Yet it was Because of his quick thinking that he was promoted to Commander.  During the end of the Dominion war the Victory-B was assaulted by over 15 Cardassian Keldon.  A Squad of rescue ships did arrive, but to late to save the Victory.  Before the remaining crew of the Victory transported over to a med ship, a Cardassian attack team boarded the Victory and Vazkav suffered a horrible shot to the upper spine.   Doctors aboard the med ship did all they could, and somehow Nick survived.  Yet he was impaired to the point that he could no longer function as a regular Starfleet Officer.  Not letting the seemingly terrible situation get the best of him, he returned to earth and for four years entered and completed law school.  His love for the stars was to great to keep him away and he enlisted in the marines where he was Commissioned as a 1^st Lt..  His first assignment is on the USS Spartan.

Enlisted in marines and was re-commissioned as a 1^st lt.  He has undergone several assignments and taken on several cases to prepare him for being a jag on a starship.

Evaluation:  On more than one occasion Nick has shown that he is a Capable leader.  I can see those under him respect him.  They Follow his orders without question.  Nick is my Closest friend he has saved my life, and he has truly cared for me as his Captain.  He looks at this ship as his home, and me as a member of his family.  While he is Human, and does make errors everything he does is well thought out and for the best interest of Starfleet.  Although he cares more for what is right in life, than he does his duty to Starfleet.  If he does have one flaw it his tendency to try and overachieve, sometimes it has landed the ship in situations it should not have been in, while other times it has earned my vessel unparalleled prestige and honor.  I fully endorse his promotion and transfer to the USS Victory.

Evaluation: I really hate to lose Nick to a new Captain, it almost makes me jealous.  But when Lt. Vazkav asked me to write this recommendation I was more than willing.  How could I not be.   Nick has saved my vessel on more occasions than I can count.  His stunning performance in our scuffle with a Borg cube was enough to convince me that he needed a position of greater command and more challenge.  I write with full confidence, my endorsing and backing that Lt. Vazkav transferred to the job of Advocate aboard the Spartan.  I hope he enjoys many years of Success with Starfleet.  I must find a flaw with everybody and Nick is no different.  His attitude to go above and beyond is almost too much.  He goes farther than he really needs to go sometimes.  I would normally say that he could handle a position of Higher command.  Yet his injuries seem to far to continue as a Starfleet Officer.  I am recommending that he be honorably discharged immediately.  He feels the same way on this, and has a desire to attend law school; I endorse him fully and give him my recommendation.

Biography

            Nicks Father passed away when Vazkav was six years old.  Really he was killed in a bad gambling deal.  His mother was forced to raise him and all his siblings alone.  Yet soon she fell into depression, her lifestyle regressed to the point where she could no longer care for her children and the kids were sent to live with their grandfather in the Upper part of the Ukraine.  Vazkav’s grandfather was a harsh man, who believed in a strict and firm education and discipline.  He wanted the Children to turn out to be better than their father, and not as emotionally swung as their mother.  The Klingon he hired to teach them self defense became Vazkav’s best and closest friend.  As a Brother, this Klingon has helped Nick in many aspects throughout his life.  His mother was found raped and murdered the year nick graduated from the Academy, he never really knew his mother that well, but the fact that he would never have a chance to affected nick deeply.   The death of his brother Alexander was the result of being with the wrong crowed at the wrong place at the wrong time.  It further cemented Nicks desire to break away from his past, a violent past he wanted nothing to do with.  His sister Dena Married an abusive person which led to her death.  The man who killed her is serving time in a Correctional Facility.   His other siblings who have decent jobs, Nick is proud of and keeps in close contact.

Psych Evaluation

            Vazkav is mainly stable.  He has a severe tendency to always want to do more.  This drive has led him into some bad scrapes.  It has also earned him some of his most prized awards and promotions.  To sum up Nicholas Vazkav would be to use the word drive.   He has a drive to succeed at any project he undertakes.  While he has had his share of failure, this drive has made him a risk taker.  He believes firmly that anyone who desires to make anything out of themselves needs to be a risk taker.  The only Psychological trouble that is noted in his records was his violent nature in high school.  When he was a freshman he used his Klingon fighting skills to send a peer to the hospital.  It needs to be noted that he was defending a smaller friend of his.  This dedication to service friends, and goals made him a prime Starfleet officer, and he aspires the same as a JAG.
