History

During the Dominion War, the Federation started to use it's Raider and Peregrine Fighters like never before. As such in the major battles they went through them really fast. Losses among the front-line squadrons were for the first six months of the war, staggeringly high. In four out of 10 battles the entire squadron was lost but a few pilots came back. it got better the further into the war it got. except losses were still far too high.

Starfleet went back to basics with their fighter design. this New Fighter would be different from it's brethren, the Warhammer. The Viper was Faster and More Manuverable, but not as well armed or armored. The fighter is designed for dogfighting and Superiority andis faster then the Warhammer and is also more Manuverable. The Viper has Dogfighting and quick attacks in mind not Heavy Assault.

This was the 2nd of 5 Designs selected by Starfleet for Production Started Construction on Pod 4 of the Mass Fabrication Facility in 2371 - a year after the Warhammer. The Viper was ready a year before the Warhammer and as soon as several Squadrons were ready, they were sent to the Front Lines for the Chin-Toka Invasion. They were sent to conduct a Feint Attack towards the Orias System. the decoy attack worked, they broke up a Reinforment wing and Destroyed a Dozen Jem hadar Fighters then they eliminated a Galor and a Jem Hadar Battleship. However they lost 15 out of 72 fighters.
