"...local high school indie-rockers Starving Goliath have made fantastic strides since their Comfest debut last year. Mixing the noisy guitar wankery of Sonic Youth, the funked-up metal flavor of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the quivering British glam vocals reminiscent of Brian Molko (Placebo), Starving Goliath has been turning heads and, like a fine wine, will continue to mature with age. By next year these kids could be playing an actual nighttime slot as long as they’re home in time for curfew." - Chip Midnight

"First OSU grad student Erica Beeney writes the screenplay for Project Greenlight's Battle of ShakerHeights. Now local high-schooling skronk-rockers Starving Goliath have a song in Showtime's Speak. Anyone at this year's Comfest (if you were there at noon on Friday) can attest that the boys in the band know how to put on an entertaining show. Though legally the young members of SG are forbidden to frequent most clubs in town, their sound, a friction of Sonic Youth, Mr. Bungle and an innocent dose of Chili Peppers white funk, is mighty mature. The film, based on the novel by Laurie Halse Anderson (a millennial Judy Blume in her own right), was shot in Columbus and has already screened at various fests, including Sundance. Starving Goliath's drummer, Forest Christenson, even makes a cameo. But one rule of thumb guys: Never, ever wear shorts on stage."
