Part 1: Getting Started

If you have ever played against me and wondered how I could castle quickly, and then move infantry and other nasty things in your town, your about to learn the secret. The first thing, of course, has to do with map type and civ choice. Before I start something big, I will note that I will use little abbreviations like trebs, tc's, and ls, which mean trebuchet, town center, and longsword.

To implement this strat you must know several things. One, your hotkeys. Always use them. If your good, you don't even need to look at what your typing. If your new to hotkeys, know the most important one, "H" "C". What are these? "H" is to select and center on your TC and "C" is create villager. Just push the "H" button once and "C" button twice over and over to have every TC make 2 villagers.

Moving on, the next thing you should know is your civ you chose. If your Japs say, you know you should make some docks and get fishing because of the fishing boat bonus. If your Brits, get the shepards working because they too have a bonus on sheep killing. Also, you should know what you can and cannot build. So don't decide to be the Turks against Franks if you can't make anti-pal units like pikers.

Third, know the map. If it's cont, go with fishing boats, they can really help out your castle time. If it's Yucatan, know that it is just a flat plain, and get ready to hunt a lot. Knowing the map's flora and fauna can help you out.

After this is all done, learn some of the taunts. They can be fun in a game like 23 (Raiding Party) to let your team know your attacking. Or use some of the new command taunts in the X-Pac like 34 (Build a Navy).

Once you know some of this, continue to part 2.
