Chiropractic treatment focuses on the role of the spinal column in biomechanics and movement and the intimate relationship between the spinal column and the nervous system.

Chiropractic offers tremendous potential in animal health care. It is a complementary therapy for the treatment of disease; and belongs in the health care spectrum along with medicine, surgery, acupuncture, homeopathy, and other such modalities.

The Animal Chiropractic profession has been certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) since 1989 through the Options for Animal Program. Most of the principles in animal chiropractic are extrapolated from the human chiropractic profession, both in technique and in the functional theories, to explain clinical results. The last decade has demonstrated the tremendous benefits of animal chiropractic care in clinical practice.

Certified Animal Chiropractor

Dr. Brandy McRoberts-Grantham is originally from Edmonton, Alberta and was raised in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. She graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario in 1997. Her love for animals led her to work at the Leaside Animal Clinic, while studying chiropractic in Ontario. It was there, that her interest in how animals could benefit from chiropractic care began.

After graduation, she traveled to Moline, Illinois to attend the Options for Animals program and became a Certified Animal Chiropractor. She, then, returned to British Columbia and opened Burnaby Heights Health Clinic. Her clinic embraces many alternative, progressive therapies.

Dr. Brandy McRoberts-Grantham believes that the principles of chiropractic care are based on common sense. Simply put, if the spine is misaligned, the nervous system will not function at 100%. This causes ill effects throughout the rest of the body. By re-aligning the spine, and removing nervous system interference, the body's natural healing abilities are restored and function improves.

Brandy's animal companions include her German Shepherd, Kodiak, and her white, short-haired cat, Kermode.
