Stephen A. Bissell was born in Marion, Indiana, in December1952 but spent most of his young life in residences at various
Air Force bases around the country; on which his father was stationed.
Shortly after high school graduation, Steve enlisted in the Navy where he met Susan Chalmers, who worked as a nurse in an off-base hospital.
They were married after Steve's initial discharge from the Navy and moved to Indiana.
Prior the birth of his first son, Steve started college at Purdue University (on campus).
Two more sons followed in quick succession with his first wife. So Steve put his education on hold and reenlisted to support his growing family.
After Sue’s death, Steve moved to Massachusetts and eventually met his second wife.
Christine adopted his three sons and added to the family with the birth of a daughter, Courtney, but they eventually divorced
Steve began a third relationship with Deborah, which resulted in the birth of another daughter and two sons.
Steve is the grandfather of three children by his oldest daughter,Courtney: one girl and two boys
Unfortunately, Courtney was a teenager of 16 when she had Mackenzie and was not able to cope with the stresses of raising her daughter as a single parent so moved back home until her daughter was of school age.
Then after deciding that the local school system was seriously deficient in the education of a special needs child, It was decided to relocate my granddaughter, who is diagnosed with ADHD, to reside with her maternal grandmother in the western part of the State.
After Steve's retirement from the Navy, Steve worked for 18 years in a local homeless shelter primarily in the field of substance abuse counseling.
Since permanently retiring from employment due to neuropathy, Steve has devoted more time to his family and hobby - writing. Steve has written a dozen short stories, one novel and
Several articles; all in various stages of edit or submission.
Steve is currently working on a second novel about his many years of employment in the homeless shelter
At age 55, Steve and his three teenage children currently live in Worcester, Massachusetts; but he spends a good part of his time assisting with the raising of his granddaughter
Steve decided to continue his education after a 33 year hiatus to set an example for his children who have not yet completed their secondary education; this time, though, he chose an online venue.
