The show started with a "Board Meeting" in the middle of the ring, with Managing Director Ted Turner chairing the meeting at the head of the table with Eric Bischoff, Jim Cornette and Pay Heyman all sat around the table.

Turner smiles broadly as he announces he has brought wrestling and Georgia Championship Wrestling back to the Superstation and that tonight the company will crown the World Champion in tonight's main-event.

Bishoff immediately cut's in and proposes to Ted that tonight the title should be decided in an Elimination Chamber! Ted nod's and seems to be considering it until Cornette pipes up and announces that he doesn't want to see gimmick over-load and instead would like the title decided via a traditional 8 man Tournament - to which Ted also seems to ponder. But seeming a little bored with that idea, Heyman speaks up and suggests that the championship should be decided in a Royal Rumble!

Sensing the three will not agree on a decision, Turner announces that he suspected this and as such announced that GCW will be governed by a Council - comprising of Bishoff, Heyman and Cornette with each man having an equal vote on each and every GCW matter and as the Council is a 3-man team, no decision should ever be tied.

Kicking things off, Turner announced that the Championship will be decided tonight via a mixture of all 3 mens ideas. All three men will be able to select two men each to enter a 7-UP Elimination Lumberjack Match in tonight's main-event but as there will be one entry left over, that Wild Card entry will be decided in the first match of the night with the Winner of a 30-Man Wildcard Battle Royal Advancing into the 7-Up Lumberjack Match to take his place alongside the Council's picks. Turner also announced that the men who finished 2nd and 3rd in the Battle Royal will also face off tonight for the vacant Southern Heritage Championship!

Carly Colón Jr vs "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair

Colón and Flair carried over the tension between the two from the Wildcard Battle Royal and it looked as though the youthful Carly would take down Flair but he got too cocky and wasted far too much time which allowed Flair to land 'old faithful' a-la the low-blow to ground Carly and from there he slapped on the Figure-Four and there was no escape for Colón no matter how hard he tried, and he did.
