Inaugaral Statement -- March 10, 2006

Dear Town of Pelham Resident or Ontario Professional Planning Institute Member,

Thank you once again for taking the time to participate in this research enterprise which investigates the role of public consultation in urban planning.

Between March and May 2006, I will be conducting a public survey of Pelham residents, an online survey of municipal planners, a focus group of residents and a series of interviews with planners and planning consultants in Ontario.

Through these techniques I will be asking a number of questions that will help define the opportunities and limitations of consultation. With your help by completing the survey provided, I expect to be able to make recommendations on how to improve public consultation process and also define the desired outcomes.

Therefore, I encourage you to check this webpage often for updates on the research progress. The summary of the public survey results will be placed here on or before June 1, 2006. The executive summary of the online survey to planners will be placed here on or before June 15, 2006.

My many thanks again for participating in my research.
