The dances I like always seem to really be matched to the music. These dances always seem to be a lot more showy without necessarily being more difficult. I love it when the lyrics spell out the steps or a dance perfectly hits a break. My trademark, if I have one, is just that - dances that are really really tightly coupled to the music. Sometimes this means using unusual phrasing, sometimes it means using unusual footwork. Still, I think a good dance can add a new dimension to a good song, if it fits well enough.
While none of my dances have been big world-wide movers and shakers, many of my dances have found a number of niche markets. Walk a While is being danced in Michigan and Iowa, as well as at least one club in Germany. The Dodge Shake is being done in Florida and Boss Man is done in parts of New Zealand. Most of these dances can be seen on dance floors in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR. Give these dances a try. I hope you'll like what you find.
