I'm going to be able to drive the car in Europe until 30 Jun 2001, since I only paid for four months insurance. I'll likely be dropping the car off in Madrid (actually Paris as of now). I'll pick up the car 6-8 weeks later at the BMW dealership here.

Note on the CD changer: After much reflection, I decided to get it trunk mounted instead of glove mounted. This is because the glove box is quite small and the changer would take up about 1/3 of the room. As it is the only place in the car to securely store valuables, I felt that it's space was a premium. That and installing it in the glovebox would have taken 1,5 hours, and since the car was prewired (option 692) for the trunk mount, it made more sense to just get it installed and be done with it.

The first problem with the car has arisen. Turns out I was running low on oil after 5000 miles. The yellow oil light came on in Antibes, France (on the Côte d'Azur). That means that you need to put more oil in.

The second problem with the car has arisen. One of the caps on the nuts of the automatic tap has fallen off. It is the passenger side nut where the top meets the top of the windshield. It was caught by Stacey the first time, and after simple replacement failed, caught by the front seat. It is now to be found in the cigarette holder in the front. The cigarette holder in the back holds foreign change.
