WWOOFing at Kwangwun Farm

Mr Jung is a mainstream farmer. He has a mixed farm peach, grape, pear, lettuce, chilli, ducks and a hotel/restaurant business. It's outside Yangsan village near Youngdong Town. He has a family : wife Chon-Mi-Ae daughter Un-ha and son Un-Sana

My jobs included clearing an old vineyard, collecting dates and walnuts.

Chon-Mi-Ae cooked Saeng Gang Kalvee (ginger flavoure BBQ beef) the best food I have eaten in Korea
Met Mr Ho a Korean who used to live in Paraguay, whers there's a large Korean community.

he just picked up the duck and slit it's throat.

We cleaned up family grave in preparation for the Chosok festival when relatives from the cities will come. Went with Mr Jung to his uncles for a riverside party.

young women have to be humble, but older women have more respect and freedom.

Friday Primary school sportsday --- again Soju, Soju, .

Well done young Un-Sana for his wins in Shirum (Korean wrestling)

Saturday Went to the Youngdong Festival to see I Mr Jung compete for the village in tug of war

his team was quite good but didn't quite make the finals.

Interesting when police came ... To me it's only fun games it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, but the locals see it differently they are really serious; so when the referee made a bad decision they refused to leave the pitch for more than 1 hour

Sunday Went to the festival again met up with Ruby the local English teacher., more siiting at long tables eating octupus pancakes and drinking soju.
Mr Jung said we would "take the lettuce out of the garden and take it to the house." Why ?Strange I thought, maybe there too many plants we are "thinning" so I just ripped the plants out without roots. Then I found in korean "house" means "greenhouse". I should have taken the plants out with roots to replant in the greenhouse.
Tuesday left for Kyongju
Mr Jung seemed to be quite a successful farmer in comparison to people who have moved into farming from the city, They are country people and they know the life very well, he has a lot of experience, he a lot of different crops, and he's not organic so he has the advantage of using chemicals.
