It was going to be much easier to get to Hwaseong by hitching than by bus, cos it's 150km up the motorway from Seonunsa. I got to the toll gate by bus pretty easily. The 2nd car stopped. They were a young fashion designer woman and her parents from Gimpo.
"Was I in a hurry they wanted to visit a temple first ?", turns out they weren't very good at directions. Even though I was right at the tollgate we turned around cos the temple Baegyangsa was 40 Km south. Eventually we got to the temple, (pretty boring), then had lunch.
They "killed themselves laughing " as 3 hours later we came back to the same spot I had been standing at in the beginning. They like many other people had Tuesday as an extra day off so the motorway was so so crowded the traffic crawled along. We had tea together.
Eventually they dropped me off at the services. I caught a bus which came past Hwaseong City Hall. It was after 6, but some workers in the construction department, really helped me. They tracked down the website and put me in touch with Ryu, Sang Yong ..
