Rules for Stickball

These are the rules for stickball. If anyone breaks these rules they are punished by being out or being ridiculed by all the peers. Another result of breaking the rules is banishment. That has happened only once and if you are interested in that and many others that have broke the rules or just done something that brought shame to stickball, click here.

2. The game is played just like baseball except for the following: There will be no gloves allowed, anyone who uses a glove will be punished badly depending on what the stickball councel rules. We only play two outs.

The ball will be made of plastic and the bat, too. The bat must be oversized and have duct tape wrapped around the sweet spot.

The game can be played on several different sufaces. Short cut grass is recomended, although gravel parking lots work well. Especially if someone goes all out and dives for a ball. All the blood will make the game so much better.

The bat throw: When a ball is batted on the ground or in the air, there is a chance of the batter getting out. If the batter thinks that they will get out, they have the option to throw the bat towards the ball in hopes that it will distract the fielder. This technique works well with ground balls back to the pitcher and the players at the corners.

The stickball catch: When a runner is on base and a ball is batted towards that base, the runner can pick the ball up and through it into the outfield or where ever they please. This is legal as long and the runner stays on the base while they are in contact with the ball.

The strike zone: For a strike zone, see the Strike zone. This can be changed to fit the needs of the team and players. If the ball ricochets off the the player or bat and goes into the strike zone, it is a strike.

There is no home run line. If there is a fence\building or anyother object that would work as a fence, use it. Having a home run fence is cool.

The field needs to have an oversized back stop.
