Dear parents, 

We would like to welcome you and your child to the Stingray team.  The team approach to teaching makes it easier for students, parents, and teachers to work together and communicate better.  The four core teachers on our team are Ms Roy - Language Arts; Ms. Roy - Math; 
Mr. Hendra - Social Studies and Mr. Heins - Science. 
Our desire is to work with you to make this year a successful one for your child. 

A daily assignment sheet will be issued the first day of every week.  This allows you and your child to know what the daily class activities and homework assignments are for each day in all classes. It is the student’s responsibility to keep the sheet current.  All assignments missed because of absences can be copied from a friend’s sheet.  Assignments may be made up for  EXCUSED ABSENCES ONLY.  Parents need to review and sign the assignment sheet over the weekend.  It should be returned to the child’s first period teacher the following Monday to be graded. 

Every student should come prepared each day with the required materials for each class.  They  will need to carry their three-ring notebook to each class.  All of their class work must be kept in this notebook as well as important school rules and information.  The minimum requirements include white, loose-leaf notebook paper, a pen (blue or black ink), and a pencil.   

At Shandin Hills we have high expectations for our students.  In order that all students can meet these expectations those who require extra help can receive after school assistance from their teachers.  All of the teachers on the Stingray team will put forth whatever effort is needed to make your child’s experience at Shandin Hills a success, as long as they also put forth their best effort.

Ms. Pavka and Mr. Heins will be available at 9:00. Your participation in your child’s education is greatly encouraged.
When it becomes clear that you care about your child’s education, they also will care.
